We drink quite a lot of coffee and probably use approx. two coffee filters per day on average. They are compostable but I felt like sewing my own of some fabric that I had lying around. I made 9. Then I don't have to keep reminding myself to buy a new package. And I often forget which size coffee filters we use.
I used the paper on the front of the package as a stencil and cut 18 pieces - two for each filter obviously.
I then zig-zagged the top of the filter pieces. I have an old Pfaff sewing machine from 1963 - works perfect for me.
Så syede jeg stykkerne sammen to og to.
Then I sewed the pieces together two and two.
Til sidst zig-zaggede jeg resten af siderne.
I then zig-zagged the rest of the sides.
Sådan ser mit nye filter ud i min kaffemaskine - virker perfekt.
This is how it looks in my coffee maker. I have tried them out for a couple of weeks now - works perfectly.
I think the coffee tastes just as good as with a paper filter. I use the coffee ground for making soaps, scrubs and as fertilizer in the garden. Now that's zero waste, isn't it?
